Norwegian conglomerate Orkla has purchased Danish bakery company Struer Brod for an undisclosed price through its wholly-owned subsidiary Orkla Foods Sverige.
Orkla’s acquisition of Struer Brod is aimed at bolstering its production capacity in the breakfast segment.
Struer Brod manufactures breakfast cereals and breadcrumbs with Orkla being its key customer. The Danish cereal manufacturer has been a supplier of breakfast cereals to Orkla from 2012.
Struer Brod also sells products to the out-of-home segment and the food industry under its own brand Struer.
Orkla on the other hand, offers a range of breakfast products in the form of Pauluns, Det Gode Liv and Bare Bra brands.
Commenting on Orkla acquisition of Struer Brod, Atle Vidar Nagel Johansen – EVP of Orkla and CEO of Orkla Foods, said: “Struer delivers high-quality products and has strong product development expertise. We are pleased with our collaboration with Struer, and this acquisition is strategically important to ensure sufficient production capacity and product development for the future.”
