General Mills Pulls Food Additive Petition PDF Print E-mail
Written by admin
General Mills has withdrawn a food additive petition for a change of regulations to allow ultraviolet radiation to be used to reduce pathogens in sugar and water.

The multi-national wanted safe doses of ultraviolet radiation to be permitted for use to reduce pathogens and other micro-organisms in aqueous sugar solutions and potable water destined for use in food production.

The petition was made in 2007 but was withdrawn last month.

The decision to withdraw was published last week in the Federal Register.
