Bakery giant signs research deal PDF Print E-mail

The world's largest bread manufacturer is the latest food sector giant to sign a research deal with Vancouver-based tech developer EnWave Corp.

EnWave announced Monday that it has signed a collaboration deal with Grupo Bimbo SA, which markets food under 150 brand names in Latin America, the United States and China. Grupo Bimbo names familiar to British Columbia consumers would include Sara Lee, Orowheat and Boboli.

The company, based in Mexico City, had 2009 revenues of $9 billion US and employees over 100,000 people in 100 manufacturing facilities around the world. It's among the world's largest food corporations.

Other research deals announced this year by EnWave include one with Danisco, a global supplier of cultures and probiotics for yogourt, and one with Nestle S.A. Of Switzerland.
