One of Ireland's major food groups has bought local US sandwich maker On A Roll as the company continues to build its business across the Atlantic.

Greencore announced the acquisition, struck for an undisclosed sum, yesterday. It said On A Roll's gross assets stood at US$3.4m at the end of September.

Greencore group development director Eoin Tonge added: "On A Roll is a promising, growing business with a well diversified customer base of major retailers and convenience stores.

"This acquisition, will provide an additional revenue stream to Greencore USA's food-to-go category and will complement our existing businesses in Newburyport and Cincinnati."
