AB Enzymes, a division of Associated British Foods, has named Karl-Heinz Maurer as director of business development.

Prior to joining AB Enzymes, Dr Maurer was head of the biotechnology group for Henkel, a consumer goods company.

Dr Maurer's primary responsibilities with AB Enzymes will be on the development of second generation biofuels from biomass and the entry of the company into new markets.

AB Enzymes produces enzymes for applications ranging from bakery and beverage to animal feed.
