The Federation of Bakers will hold their annual luncheon on 11 May 2011 at the Institute of Directors, London, where they will address the key issues and challenges facing the industry in the year ahead.

Following the Annual General Meeting, open to members only at 11.30am, the luncheon will be open to anyone in the bakery sector who wishes to attend. The Chairman, Mark Fairweather, CEO of Allied Bakeries, will address the group before the annual lunch commences with a drinks reception at 12 noon.

Guest speaker at lunch will be Health Minister Anne Milton, MP, who will offer insight into the Government's strategy on health, a topic of great relevance to the bakery sector. She will enlighten the group on the Food Network Responsibility Deal with salt reduction taking a prominent place on the agenda. Now the remit for salt reduction has passed from the Food Standards Agency to the Department for Health the session presents a perfect opportunity for an open dialogue on the topic.

Gordon Polson, Director for the Federation of Bakers, explains: "The industry lunch provides an excellent occasion for the bakery sector to unite to share information and network. We are delighted that the Health Minister Anne Milton, MP, has agreed to speak, offering an ideal chance to discuss the changes in the way the current Government is approaching health and how we as an industry can work successfully in partnership with them."
