Ukraine has agreed to export 5-10 lakh metric tons of wheat to Bangladesh every year, Food Minister Dr Abdur Razzaque said after a meeting with Ukraine Food Minister M.V. Prysyazhnyuk in Kiev, reported United News of Bangledesh.

Talking to reporters in his Ministry, Razzaque said a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed to this effect under which wheat would be imported either by the government or by the private sector.

As part of the deal, he said Ukraine will export one to two lakh metric tons of wheat by June this year.

Razzaque, who visited Ukraine from March 9-13, said the Ukraine government has put restriction on export of wheat in the wake of rise in food grain prices on the international market.

About distribution of fair price cards, he said 1,500 fair price cards are being distributed in each union throughout the country. Earlier, the government decided to distribute 1,000 fair price cards in each union. The distribution will be completed in next 2-3 days.
