Written by admin

Professionals from across the biscuit, cake, chocolate and confectionery world have gathered in Oxfordshire, UK, today to discuss how the sector can deliver on public health, with a special focus on the Government's Responsibility Deal.

Speaking at the Biscuit, Cake, Chocolate and Confectionery Annual Conference (BCCC) United Biscuits' Simon Roulston - Conference Chairman, said:

"A common thread that affects us all is the health and nutrition of our products, their subsequent labelling and finally their marketing. All three of these areas attract a great deal of focus and are developing in significant ways.

"Over the next day and a half, we will look at the current state of our industry, as well as examining these three key areas from Government, legislative, industry, retailer, and consumer perspectives.

"Our excellent line up of speakers will explain the background to these issues, explore their implications and determine ways in which our sector can incorporate these changes.

"The issues we face are shared issues, and through education, discussion and collaboration, we can formulate strategies and work together for a healthy future."
