CSM has opened a new facility in Shanghai, China for the production of bakery ingredients (such as mixes for bread, cake and muffins) for the markets in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

The facility is enabled to extend capacity, in pace with market developments, to meet future demand.

Today, the Dutch Minister of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation Maxime Verhagen opened the facility during an official ceremony.

Gerard Hoetmer, CEO of CSM comments; "China is a very promising market for bakery products. Our global customers are expanding into China. In addition, the economic growth is driving domestic consumption. This new production facility significantly increases our reach to the market in Greater China. We have started our presence in China with products sourced from our North American and European businesses. With this local production, we can better tailor our local product portfolio to local requirements and respond faster to customers' needs."
