The EU Regulation on Food Information to Consumers has now been published and comes into effect in mid-December.

The food industry now faces the most significant changes to food labelling rules for a generation.

Campden BRI's annual Food Labelling seminar (see http://www.campden.co.uk/food-labelling-seminar.htm) on December 8th, which has been dedicated to these changes, is now full up.

To cope with demand, we have arranged an extra date - on 20th January 2012.

Event organiser Sheila Barbour, one of Campden BRI's legislation team, explains the tremendous response to the seminar and the main thrust of the event: "We have been running these labelling seminars for many years, and although we have sometimes put up the 'House Full' notices, demand this time has been exceptional - hence the second seminar.

"We will again be discussing the main areas that the changes will affect. These include: extended mandatory allergen labelling, compulsory nutrition labelling, extended origin labelling, and prescriptive clarity and legibility requirements.

"There will be speakers from Defra, the Department of Health, Trading Standards and the Local Better Regulation Office, as well as from industry, and there will be plenty of opportunity for discussions with the speakers."
