Romanian bakery producer Derpan reported a 39.3% increase in net turnover in the first half of 2026, reaching RON76.46m, supported by higher production volumes, new retail contracts and continued export expansion.
The company said contracts with major international retail chains progressively moved into the delivery stage during the period, as its products gained access to their distribution networks. Derpan also continued developing its export business, with shipments to customers in the US, which began in December 2025, recording increasing monthly volumes.
Production capacity utilization across Derpan’s two manufacturing facilities reached approximately 79% in June, compared with 60.46% for 2025. The company has been increasing utilization following investments in additional production capacity between 2023 and 2025.
Sales from Derpan’s own production increased by 31.7% year-on-year to RON66.57m, while revenue from merchandise sales more than doubled to RON12.05m.
Higher volumes also supported an improvement in profitability. Derpan returned to operating profit during the first six months of the year, recording RON159,300 compared with an operating loss of RON2.75m in the corresponding period of 2025. EBITDA improved from a negative RON1.68m to RON1.08m.
The company nevertheless remained loss-making overall, although its net loss narrowed from RON3.76m in the first half of 2025 to RON1.92m in the same period this year. Financial expenses increased during the period, partly reflecting interest costs related to the company’s bond issue and foreign exchange differences.
Operating revenue reached RON82.5m, up 46.5% year-on-year, while operating expenses increased at a slower rate of 39.4% to RON82.34m. Personnel expenses rose by 15.5% to RON19.31m as the company increased output across its manufacturing network.
Derpan said the higher utilization of its production capacity, continued export development and progressive absorption of fixed costs contributed to the improvement in its operating performance.
The company also listed its EUR2m corporate bond issue on the Bucharest Stock Exchange’s Multilateral Trading System in August 2026, while the emission itself happened in 2025. The bonds carry an annual fixed interest rate of 11% and mature in August 2030.
