dsm-firmenich Expands Indonesia Footprint with New Office and Manufacturing Capabilities

dsm-firmenich has opened a new Jakarta office and expanded its Karawang manufacturing facility in Indonesia, adding new capabilities for food and beverage applications and increasing production capacity in the country. The Karawang facility was officially inaugurated on September 14, followed by the opening of the Jakarta office on September 15, 2026.

The new Jakarta facility brings together teams from dsm-firmenich’s Taste, Texture & Health, Perfumery & Beauty, and Health, Nutrition & Care business units. The office is designed to strengthen collaboration with customers and support the development of locally relevant solutions.

For its Taste, Texture & Health business, the new location includes a baked goods application lab and a pilot plant for dairy ultra-high temperature applications. It also provides capabilities in local sweet goods and savory applications and flavor creation, alongside dedicated spaces for customer co-creation and innovation.

The Perfumery & Beauty business has also expanded its capabilities at the site, including creation and application laboratories, sensorium experiences and air care testing facilities. Meanwhile, the completed expansion of dsm-firmenich’s Karawang manufacturing facility has increased production capacity and added new capabilities for innovation and manufacturing.

The site now features drying technology for reaction and top-note products, capable of processing both high-fat and high-protein products. New culinary blending capabilities have also been introduced to improve production efficiency.

The Karawang facility is reportedly powered by 100% green electricity. Electric heating is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 300 metric tons annually, while heat recovery is designed to reduce energy consumption by approximately 16%.

Timothy Elisafan, Head of Taste, Texture & Health, Asia Pacific, dsm-firmenich, stated: “By expanding our innovation and manufacturing capabilities, we’re making it easier to co-create with customers, respond more quickly to rapidly changing consumer needs and bring new solutions to market faster,”

The company said Indonesia has been an important market for more than 35 years, with the new facilities supporting its long-term growth and customer collaboration in the country and wider region.
