General Mills has appointed Dana McNabb as its new Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Jeff Harmening, who will become Executive Chair of the company’s Board of Directors. Both appointments will take effect on January 1, 2027.
McNabb currently serves as Chief Operating Officer and oversees General Mills’ four operating segments, including North America Retail, North America Pet, North America Foodservice and International, alongside Sales, Supply Chain, and Innovation, Technology and Quality.
She has spent 27 years at General Mills, holding leadership positions across general management, strategy, marketing and international operations. McNabb joined General Mills in Canada in 1999. She holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce from the University of Ottawa and an MBA from London Business School.
McNabb stated: “Returning the company to profitable growth is the priority, and we know how we’ll get there. By building industry-leading, digitally enabled demand generation, and modernizing our supply chain, we will fundamentally improve how we operate.”
Harmening has led General Mills as CEO since 2017. During his tenure, the company expanded its portfolio, including its presence in the pet food category, while developing its digital and technology capabilities. According to General Mills, the company returned more than USD17bn to shareholders through dividends and share repurchases during his leadership.
