Lesaffre’s Ennolys Broadens Scale-Up Support for Fermentation-Derived Ingredients

Ennolys by Lesaffre has expanded its contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) services, strengthening its capacity to support the development and industrialization of fermentation-derived ingredients.

The expanded offer covers fermentation, downstream processing (DSP) and drying, and is aimed at biotechnology companies looking to move products from laboratory development through scale-up and into commercial production.

For the food sector, Ennolys works with a range of microorganisms and fermentation-derived metabolites, including enzymes, proteins, peptides, probiotics and postbiotics. These capabilities place the expanded service within a broader ingredient-development context, particularly for companies seeking industrial-scale production of fermentation-based solutions.

The company said its teams can support projects throughout the development process, from laboratory R&D to production in large-capacity fermenters. The service combines process development with purification and drying capabilities, with a focus on improving yield, quality and reproducibility during scale-up.

Ennolys has more than 30 years of experience in industrial fermentation and said the new structure is intended to help customers reduce development costs, shorten time to market and secure their supply chains.

“Expanding our CDMO service offer provides a concrete solution to the challenges facing the biotechnology industry. Thanks to our long-standing expertise in fermentation and our capabilities in DSP and drying, we support our customers from the laboratory stage through to industrial production, enabling them to accelerate and secure their development. Together, we turn their needs into sustainable industrial success,” said Jean de Lataillade, CEO of Ennolys by Lesaffre.

The expanded services cover applications across food as well as cosmetics, nutraceuticals, agriculture and animal nutrition.

“This expansion of Ennolys’ offer illustrates Lesaffre’s commitment to putting its fermentation expertise at the service of innovators. It will help foster the development of sustainable solutions that address the major challenges of tomorrow,” said Brice-Audren Riché, Lesaffre CEO.

For Lesaffre, the initiative forms part of a wider effort to build partnerships within the biotechnology ecosystem and extend its fermentation expertise into the industrial development of new ingredients and other biotechnology products.
