At iba (hall 9, stand D17), taking place 18–22 May 2025, DTM Print and US‑based Primera Technology will demonstrate two cutting‑edge solutions for bakery and confectionery decorating: Eddie, the FDA‑ and EU‑approved edible ink printer, and Freddie, the NSF‑certified robotic frosting machine.
Eddie, The Edible Ink Printer
Eddie is a professional‑grade direct‑to‑food printer that applies full‑colour images, text and logos onto biscuits, macarons, sweets and white chocolate using Kosher‑, Halal‑ and vegan‑certified edible inks. The inks meet all EU and FDA food‑additive standards and are produced in cGMP‑certified facilities, ensuring no residual film or off‑flavour. Thousands of bakeries, cafés, restaurants and hotels worldwide rely on Eddie to deliver bright, ready‑to‑sell treats for private events and corporate promotions.
Freddie, The Frosting Machine
Freddie automates the application of royal icing and other frostings with pinpoint accuracy. Its advanced “FreddieVision” vision system and topographic sensors analyse each biscuit’s shape and recipe requirements, calculating precise icing volumes and plotting flawless decoration paths. Operating in carousel mode, Freddie can frost up to 12 biscuits per cycle—each up to 13 cm in size—at a rate of one minute per 8 cm biscuit (approx. 36 biscuits per tube). Manual mode accommodates bespoke runs or irregular shapes.
Streamlined Workflow
When combined, Eddie and Freddie create a seamless production line: Freddie lays down a consistent icing base, then Eddie prints detailed images and logos directly onto the iced surface. This tandem approach accelerates output, cuts labour costs and maintains consistent, high‑resolution decoration—ideal for artisan bakeries and large‑scale manufacturers alike.
