Fortress Technology will highlight how metal detection systems can support production efficiency and preventative maintenance alongside food safety and HACCP compliance at PPMA 2026, where the company will exhibit at stand E36.
According to Fortress Technology, metal detectors can provide manufacturers with information about issues occurring further upstream on a production line. Repeated detection of metal, for example, can indicate wear or failure in processing equipment before a more significant breakdown occurs.
The company says distinguishing between ferrous, non-ferrous and stainless-steel contaminants can also help maintenance teams identify the potential source of an issue and target the relevant equipment.
Phil Brown, European Sales Director at Fortress Technology, stated: “Inefficiencies in food production and packing don’t just impact a food processor’s balance sheet. They can also overwhelm your workforce and stifle business agility,”
Metal detection expert, Mike Bradley, said: “Automatic testing tools, when implemented alongside HACCP plans, add a repeatable verification layer that ensures every metal detector is functioning as expected, without requiring human intervention,”
Fortress Technology stated that combining automated testing with networked communications and reporting technology can also help manufacturers maintain inspection records while identifying production inefficiencies and potential bottlenecks.
