Corbion launched Lumi Set, a boil-up type icing stabilizer for water-based icings that contains no titanium dioxide to help bakers across the U.S. reformulate away from it without sacrificing visual appeal. The product was released on June 15 and is being sold across the U.S. and global markets, available through Corbion’s bakery solutions portfolio.
There is a lot of regulatory and customer pressure around the use of titanium dioxide that keeps accelerating. Multiple American states have already passed or are advancing regulations that could restrict the ingredient in certain food applications, retail products, consumer packaged goods, and school food channels. For commercial bakers who rely on titanium dioxide to enhance the appearance of their finished products, this is a pressing matter.
The Vice President of Corbion, Abby Ceule, declared: “Titanium dioxide restrictions are creating real urgency for bakers, and we designed LUMI Set to give them a clear path forward, […] This isn’t just about compliance; it’s about making sure bakers can maintain the visual quality their customers expect while keeping pace with a regulatory landscape that’s changing fast.”
