ADM announced a multimillion-dollar investment to increase throughput at its grain elevator in Optima, Oklahoma. The project is expected to be finished by the middle of 2027.
The investment is designed to help the facility move bigger quantities of grain and feed products in a more efficient manner. The company aims to reduce train unloading times by approximately 50% and has decided to add 150 cars with additional track capacity and one new rail unloading pit with two hard car diggers to help the process.
Tim McHenry, vice president of North America Grain & Feed, stated: “ADM’s vast North American logistics network connects tens of thousands of farmers to markets, and our Optima facility plays a critical role in connecting grain and feed products from across the country to livestock markets in the Panhandle region, […] serves one of the country’s largest livestock-feeding regions, and we continue to see demand increasing, making efficient movement of grain and feed ingredients especially important.”
ADM’s vice president of North American Milling and Ag Services Operations, Michael Means, said: “The Optima project reflects our commitment to continuously improving the way we operate […] We’re not just adding capacity; we’re making the entire unloading process safer, more reliable and more efficient.”
