The European Union-backed “Premium European Products: Better Knowledge, Better Choices” campaign is promoting Latvian chocolates, confectionery products, biscuits and wafers to Canadian buyers, highlighting sustainability credentials, premium ingredients and European quality standards.
The initiative, co-funded by the European Union and managed by the National Union of Agricultural Cooperatives of Greece (ETHEAS) and the Latvian Dairy Committee (LDC), aims to increase awareness of European food products in Canada, Malaysia and South Korea.
According to the campaign organizers, participating Latvian producers are showcasing a range of chocolate, biscuit and confectionery products manufactured using sustainably sourced ingredients and established production expertise. More than 80% of the cocoa used in participating chocolate products is certified by the Rainforest Alliance, while sugar has been sourced since 2019 from sugar beet producers meeting Farm Sustainability Assessment (FSA) standards.
The campaign emphasizes growing consumer demand for premium products with transparent sourcing and strong sustainability credentials. Product categories promoted under the initiative include chocolates, biscuits, wafers, cookies and confectionery products featuring a variety of fillings and flavour combinations.
Organizers said the products are manufactured under the European Union’s food safety, traceability and quality assurance framework, which covers ingredient sourcing and production processes.
Running from 2024 to 2026, the Premium European Products programme seeks to strengthen the profile of European food products in international markets and support export growth for participating producers.
