Minebea Intec Expands Load Cell Production in Hamburg

Minebea Intec is increasing production capacity at its Hamburg site with a seven-figure investment in new equipment, aimed at meeting rising global demand for its high-precision load cells.

The company has installed a fully automated 2-tonne dead load testing machine and a new turning centre, both designed to improve efficiency, shorten lead times and enhance product quality. The expansion supports growing demand across industries including food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and plastics, where precision weighing solutions are critical for dosing, filling and level control.

The new dead load testing system enables load cells to be calibrated in line with OIML R60 requirements across a wide temperature range. Featuring a magazine for 32 load cells, the system automates testing, reduces strain on other production lines and ensures consistent quality and reliability.

The newly added turning centre further boosts productivity by machining complex load cell components with high accuracy. Together, the investments form part of Minebea Intec’s strategy to expand automation, reduce production costs and maintain competitiveness.

Minebea Intec’s product range spans from entry-level solutions for container weighing to premium hygienic modules such as the Novego, developed for industries with strict requirements. The company said the upgrades underscore its commitment to continuous improvement, customer satisfaction and sustainable growth in weighing and inspection technologies.
