iba 2015, the world’s leading trade fair for baking, confectionery and snacks, starts Saturday in Munich

iba 2015, taking place between September 12 and 17 at the Fairground Messe München, encompasses all the products and technologies that are relevant in the daily operations of bakers and confectioners of all company sizes, as well as for decision-makers in the sector.

Topics and figures

The range of topics extends from raw materials, ingredients, baking aids and half-finished products to production technology, process optimization, small and large machines and computer systems needed for completing the interiors of bakeries, cafes and pastry shops, sales and out-of-home consumption.

Around 70,000 trade visitors from more than 160 countries visited the previous edition of iba, in 2012. Overall, over 1,200 companies from 58 countries exhibited at the previous edition of the fair and the organizers expect more for this year.

ibaCONSULTING

iba offers its exhibitors a range of different training opportunities and seminars. With its help, businesses can prepare individually for the trade fair according to their needs in order to achieve theirset objectives.

Companies have, for example, the possibility of booking exclusive in-house training covering a diverse range of topics: from efficient planning before the trade fair, to conversation techniques at the stand, to the systematic follow-up and measuring of success in the weeks thereafter. Duration, extent, location and format of the training will be arranged directly with the coach. Based on this, the fees charged to the exhibitor are calculated.

Furthermore, webinars convey useful tips for a successful trade fair participation. During these moderated online training sessions, an expert trains the iba exhibitors for their trade fair presence and provides useful information for preparation, and how best to use the time during and after the trade fair. iba summit 2015

Top international speakers will throw light on consumer trends, market potential and success factors, and will inspire the audience before the start of the trade fair on September 11.

Tickets for the iba summit cost EUR 490 plus VAT, with a reduced price of EUR 350 plus VAT for two participants or more. The ticket includes the six-day iba pass, as well as participation in the iba opening gala in the evening of 11 September. Simultaneous translation of the high-caliber program of speeches into German, English, French and Spanish will be available on request.

iba forum

A very important part of iba 2015 is iba forum. This is the place where bakers and confectioners can take part to live demonstrations and interesting lectures made by experts and celebrities, a lot of which they will certainly be able to put into practice.

Operating consultancies for craft businesses are also popular and know-how and expert tips that can be implemented into business will be available, according to the organizers. iba forum will take place every day during the trade fair, from September 12 to 17, in Hall B3.230, starting with 10:00 AM.

iba 2015 will provide a comprehensive overview of all the innovations the market has to offer.

This is where professionals will meet the most successful companies from the bakery, confectionery and snack food trade, from artisan bakeries to wholesale bakeries to industrial solutions.

On the other hand, iba 2015 will highlight the Day of German Baker, on September 13, with interesting guided tours through the trade show will take place, especially designed for small and medium-sized craft businesses.

iba UIBC CUP “Confectionery”

The best confectioners in the world will participate this year at the iba UIBC CUP. Mastered in the art of sweet seduction, confectionary teams from South Korea, Taiwan, Norway and Germany will compete for the gold medal at iba 2015.

Starting Wednesday, September 16, at 21:30, the two-day competition will take place in Hall B3. The two-person teams will conjure up sweet creations in front of the fairground audience. They will have until Thursday, September 17 to master their tasks.

The requirements: participants must produce a decorative piece made from sugar, chocolate, marzipan and nougat, or using a combination of these ingredients, three different petit fours, three different pralines, two figurines and a national specialty where a cake is integrated according to the “Circus” theme.

iba UIBC CUP “Bakery”

Similar to the best confectioners competing at the UIBC CUP, bakers have their own competition, which takes place from September 12 to 14. The theme of the year is also “Circus”, the same as for the confectionery competition.

Competitors from 12 nations Bakers from 12 nations compete against one another in teams of two. The competition is held every three years at the iba and is regarded as a professional accolade by bakers around the world.

On all three days, the competition will start an hour before the fair at 8:30 am and will end at 4:00 pm. Visitors can marvel at the results displayed at the stand of the German Baker’s Confederation in Hall B3. An international jury consisting of Günther Koerffer (Sweden), Erwin Heftberger (Austria), Werner Hürlimann (Switzerland), Franz Schuster (Italy) and Wolfgang Schäfer (Germany) will evaluate the competitors’ pieces. The overall winner will be honored at the end of the third day, Monday, 14th September at 5:30 pm at the iba forum in Hall B3.

According to the theme “Circus”, which will definitely be interesting to watch, bakers will have to prepare different types of bread, small pastries, party pastries and Danish pastries, as well as a baked showpiece. In addition to the baked goods, teams’ presentation and showing skills will also be evaluated. The best bakers will also be given a chance to delight the audience with their skills.

Four teams per day will have access to four bakeries with similar facilities. Ovens, equipment and machinery, as well as the raw materials to be used will be identical. The participants can choose their own recipes, designs and preparation methods.
