UB Indian Market Bid

United Biscuits are preparing to enter the Indian confectionary market.

The UK company says it has identified India as a market with great potential and they plan to manufacture and market biscuits for the Indian market.

A new factory will be built in Himachal Pradesh, in northern India, however rumours that the company is set to acquire the manufacturing facility of local firm SS Food Industries, in the same area, are unconfirmed.

UB have been quick to quash reports that the firm could be looking to outsource the entire UK biscuit production to India.

A spokesperson said: “We can confirm that we will not be moving our UK biscuit production to India and that our priority and focus is to serve the domestic Indian market from this new facility.”
