Morrisons Selects Irwin’s Pancakes

Family-owned bakery, Irwin’s has secured a £150,000 per annum contract to supply 100 Morrisons stores with its Rankin Selection pancakes.

The deal is perfectly timed, as the new range of products will be on-shelf in the UK in time for Pancake Tuesday – 16th February.

The Northern Ireland based company already supplies Morrisons with several of its Irish ethnic breads, including Irwin’s batch bread and fruit loaf as well as Rankin Selection soda bread, but this is the first time the County Armagh company has supplied the retailer with mainstream morning goods.

Commenting, Michael Murphy, commercial director at Irwin’s Bakery, said: “The launch in 2002 of our Rankin Selection premium quality breads and morning goods opened up a huge opportunity for Irwin’s to develop a foothold in the wider UK market where we have created an Irish ethnic bread sector that never really existed before.

“Having established our credentials for producing innovative and superior quality products through our speciality ranges, this move into mainstream morning goods with Morrisons, albeit from our premium Rankin Selection range, is great news for Irwin’s and we look forward to building on this in the months ahead.”
