FHA 2016 launches a Halal Supermarket, dedicated to a rising global market

The global halal market could grow 10.8per cent a year until 2019, reaching a value of USD 3.7 trillion, according to a Global Islamic Economy Report.

The past year has seen more developments when it comes to the global halal food and lifestyle sectors, a report by the Government of Dubai and Thomson Reuters said.

Packaged food sales are also on an upward trajectory, boosted by factors such as rising affluence and increasing awareness of food trends. In 2014, Asia-Pacific saw the demand for packaged food grow by 10 per cent, which is higher than the world average of 3 per cent. Beyond Southeast Asia, Halal food & beverages are also gaining traction in Asian regions such as Japan & Korea, where local food manufacturers are looking to certify of some of their products for import into Muslim countries – pointing to a huge potential for players in the halal market, particularly for the export of halal certified products into both Muslim and non-Muslim regions.
For the first time at Food&HotelAsia (FHA2016) there will be a Halal Supermarket, allowing buyers to source for Halal-certified ingredients and supplies, to learn more about Halal certification. Buyers can also participate in a Self-Guided Trail for Halal Food & Beverages to facilitate their specific sourcing needs. This trail maps out all exhibitors with Halal-certified products.
DagangHalal is the organiser of the Halal Supermarket at FHA2016.

FHA 2016, which has a dedicated section to Bakery& Pastry, will take place at Singapore Expo, April 12-15.
