The New Product Showcase was a big attraction among buyers and visitors at this year’s ISM Cologne (January 29 – February 1), located for the first time in Hall 2.2. Several hundreds of trade visitors took part in the voting for the top innovations again this year.
The winners are:
1. Bad Luck Cookie, by Pechkeks GmbH
2. Organic Veggie Box, by my ChipsBox GmbH
3. Pralibel Dômes, by Palibel NV
All of the selected products are excellent examples of the innovative power of the sweets and snacks industry, which comes together for ISM every year, said the show organizers.
The “Bad Luck Cookie” by the Hamburg-based company Pechkeks GmbH, in contrast to its counterpart, the fortune cookie, does not offer comfort nor does it predict strokes of good fortune. Instead, its messages are “blunt, honest and direct”. The pitch-black cookie is designed for people, who don’t take themselves too seriously and who can take a joke, according to the creators of this sweet. This went down very well with the visitors of ISM, who voted the “Bad Luck Cookie” into first place.
The second place went to the company my ChipsBox Gmbh from Munich. The “Organic Veggie Box” contains a combination between three crispy natural, air-dried vegetable crisps – packed inside an elegant and compact box. The products are organic, vegan, gluten-free and furthermore not fried.
Third place goes to a Belgian company for a noble mixture of filled chocolates in a round, elegantly designed box: “Pralibel Dômes”. The chocolatier already convinced the ISM visitors in 2011 with a successful creation.
The Packaging Award
The ISM Packaging Award powered by ProSweets Cologne was also conferred for the first time. The acknowledgement goes to the Barbecue Marshmallow Grill Bag by tri d’Aix GmbH.
A window in the packaging that is designed as a bag for barbecue charcoal reveals a view of the contents: delicious marshmallows, in this case. The item also contains small sticks that can be used as skewers.
In total, 220 products were presented in the New Product Showcase at ISM 2017.
Around 1,650 exhibitors from 68 countries are presenting at ISM until Wednesday, February 1, 2017.
