Family-owned Business Makes GBP8m Investment in Flat Bread Plant

A Leicester business making traditional naan breads and wraps, chapattis, pitta breads and other type of flatbread is investing GBP8m and plans to create 25 more positions at a new factory.

Leicester Bakery, which currently employs 45 people at its factory in Leicester, UK, is opening the new plant on the land opposite the Leicester Food Park, in the north of the city, according to leicestermercury.co.uk.

The family-owned business plans to triple in size in the next five years.

The owners hope to get the keys for the 30,000sqf building in the next few weeks before spending around GBP2 million installing new machinery and other production equipment.

It will have two production lines and will help meet demand for its products from supermarket chains.

The new factory will also have five units attached – covering 26,500sqf – which will be rented out.
