Dina Foods Offers Traditional British Afternoon Tea Menu

Family business Dina Foods brings new flavors to the traditional British afternoon tea menu, offering Mediterranean flatbreads and sweet confectionery such as baklava.

“Dina Foods bakes its mini artisan pitta breads in all different shapes and sizes for use in canapés and as finger food,” says general manager Wilda Haddad.

For afternoon tea, cocktail-pittas might be filled with a traditional salmon and cream cheese, or perhaps one of Dina Foods’ best-selling sweet potato falafel, thinly sliced on a bed of hummus or baba ganoush, or one of the other savory Mediterranean delights for which Dina Foods is renowned.

Dina Foods is one of the leading suppliers of baklava in the UK. It comes in a number of varieties, for example, enrobed in chocolate or layered with apricots, cranberries or mint. The pieces come in different sizes, from cocktail portions of 20g up to restaurant dessert portions of 120g.

Haddad says that baklava can be enjoyed not just at afternoon tea, but alongside a morning coffee or at any time of the day. Coffee shops might sell little packs of two or three baklavas for customers to savor with their drink or to grab and go.

The Haddad brothers first came to the UK in the 1970s, setting up one of the first Lebanese restaurants in the country, Fakhreldine in London’s Mayfair in the 1980s.
