Utz Brands to Eliminate Artificial Colors from Product Portfolio by 2027

U.S.-based Utz Brands has announced it will remove all certified artificial colors (FD&C colors) from its product portfolio by the end of 2027.

The company, a major producer of branded salty snacks, said that 80% of its current portfolio is already free from FD&C colors, with several brands entirely without them. The transition reflects both shifting consumer demand for simpler ingredient lists and evolving regulatory initiatives.

Beginning this autumn, Utz will also highlight “real and simple” product attributes on select packaging to reinforce its clean-label positioning.

Founded in 1921, Utz has steadily built its reputation on quality and transparency, emphasizing ingredients that align with consumer expectations. The move to eliminate artificial colors underlines its strategy to maintain trust with shoppers while adapting to broader market trends, said the company.

Utz products are widely available across U.S. retail and online channels.
