Capitol City Produce Inks Deal With Specialty Baker

Capitol City Produce is continuing its expansion into new markets and products.

Among recent developments for the 73-year-old family-owned business is a new line of custom cakes it is developing with a bakery in New York. The specialty cakes, to be rolled out later this year, will be distributed to Capitol City Produce customers, including restaurants, hotels, and institutions like universities and hospitals.

Company president Darin Arceneaux declines to name the bakery but says it is well known in the confectionery world and was even featured once on The Oprah Winfrey Show.

Capitol City produce has also signed a contract with Avendra Aramark to supply that company’s clients—including hotels and resorts—between Baton Rouge and Mobile.

Founded on April 24, 1947, by the Ferachi family, Capitol City Produce operates in the Gulf Coast region. They offer everything from fresh fruits and vegetables to seasonal items, frozen products, fresh dairy products and value-added processed items.
