Mantinga, the specialist bread company has just launched a mini and regular multigrain croissant and multigrain round roll in the UK.
Sourced from an artisan bakery in Germany they are made from germ-bud flour containing eleven germinated grains including peas, lupin, wheat germ and red clover as well as whole linseed, pumpkin and sunflower seeds.
The use of germ-bud flour means the product stays fresh longer and the taste and health benefits form the 11 germinated and cracked seeds has been tasted to be believed. The germinated grains are preserved in the flour and even when baked, are bursting with vitamins and minerals which can be naturally absorbed in to the body.
For example they contain linseed which is rich in omega 3 and unsaturated fatty acids, fenugreek which is proven to reduce blood sugar and cholesterol levels and spelt which contains many essential minerals such as zinc and magnesium.
The croissants and rolls are frozen ready for bake-off at 175C for 20 minutes (mini croissants; 170C for 18- 22 minutes). Two serving suggestions, to complement all their goodness is to offer them filled with low fat cream cheese, smoked salmon and cracked black pepper topped with a squeeze of lemon and cucumber slices or avocado, tomato and alfalfa sprouts topped with toasted pine nuts – a tasty yet healthy lunch.
