McDonalds To Expand Operations In Europe

Datamonitor reports that US-based fast food chain McDonald’s intends to increase its presence in Europe in 2009, revealed the International Business Times citing Denis Hennequin, the company’s president for European operations.

Across Europe, the company wants to open 240 new outlets. These openings are expected to create 12,000 new jobs primarily in Spain, France, Italy, Russia and Poland. This expansion will cost the firm $1.1 billion. Despite the global economic slowdown, the company reported a good performance in 2008. Low cost menus have helped the company drive growth.
