Talks between union representatives of Cadbury and Kraft Foods officials took place this week following the hostile takeover bid for the UK confectionary company.
Unite union bosses sought assurances over jobs, pensions and working conditions should Kraft be successful in its bid for Cadbury.
A Unite spokesperson said Kraft intends to maintain a manufacturing facility at Somerdale.
Cadbury has already rejected a £9.8bn offer from the food firm.
Italian confectioner Ferrero and US based Hershey last week announced they are considering making a joint bid for Cadbury. And according to reports in the US, chocolate maker Hershey is also considering launching a solo bid of at least $17bn (£10bn).
A Cadbury spokesperson told the BBC: “We have always said that we would give proper consideration to any serious offer that delivers full value for the company. Unless and until we find ourselves in that situation we have nothing to comment upon.”
