PETA has selected the top 10 vegan pies from restaurants and bakeries across the US, and the Cranberry Walnut Pie from Louisville’s Sweet Surrender Dessert Cafe secured a spot on the list.
The award-winning pie is filled with crunchy walnuts and ripe cranberries for a distinctive tart yet sweet flavor.
Sweet Surrender Dessert Cafe also offers other vegan pies, including a chocolate peanut butter pie, an apple pie, and a sour cherry pie.
“This festive holiday Cranberry Walnut Pie is as delicious as it is kind to animals, and it’s the perfect way to end a Thanksgiving meal. All the pleasing pies on PETA’s list show how easy it is to give everyone—including chickens and cows—something to be thankful for,” says PETA president Ingrid Newkirk.
Not only are vegan desserts free of saturated animal fat and cholesterol, they also spare animals’ immense suffering.
Rounding out PETA’s list are pies from Fork My Life in Sarasota, Florida; Green Heart Bakery in Tucson, Arizona; Petunia’s Pies & Pastries in Portland, Oregon; Magpies Softserve in Los Angeles; The Remedy Diner in Raleigh, North Carolina; Reverie Bakeshop in Richardson, Texas; Acme Pie Co. in Arlington, Virginia; Third Coast Bakery in Traverse City, Michigan; Beet Box Bakery & Cafe in Denver; Veggie Galaxy in Cambridge, Massachusetts; and Sweet Freedom Bakery in Philadelphia. Each eatery will receive a framed certificate.
PETA is an on organization claiming that “animals are not ours to eat”.
