Fazer has announced the opening of a temporary drive-in store in front of the Fazer Experience Visitor Centre on Tuesday, April 7. Through the drive-in store, Fazer offers consumers an opportunity to buy frozen bakery products that were meant for restaurant and hotel customers. The drive-in store enables a significant reduction in food waste that threatens to arise as a result of the coronavirus epidemic. The frozen products are also a good addition to home storage.
A large number of frozen bakery products that were meant for Fazer’s hotel, restaurant and catering customers are in danger of being wasted due to the almost stagnant hotel and restaurant business.
“This exceptionally challenging period caused by the coronavirus epidemic requires innovative and sustainable solutions from all of us. The primary purpose of the drive-in store is to prevent food waste. In addition, a lot of people are now buying food that can be stored in freezers, as they want to increase their home storage,” says Markus Hellström, managing director of Fazer Bakery Finland.
Customers do not need to get out of their cars when placing the order and the number of contacts is minimized. Due to hygienic reasons, only card payment is available.
The selection of the drive-in store consists of ready-composed product bags that include frozen sweet and savory bakery products, such as pasties, croissants and bread rolls. In addition, each product bag contains Fazer’s confectionery products.
