La Lorraine Invests EUR200m in Its Erpe-Mere Site

La Lorraine Bakery Group is investing EUR200m in the modernization of its bakery factory in Erpe-Mere. This investment will create 350 jobs and more than double production.

The modernization of the Erpe-Mere site includes a new hall with four production lines where bakery products such as baguettes and donuts are produced. In total, La Lorraine Bakery Group, headquartered in Ninove, is investing EUR200m in the site over a period of seven years. This will more than double production and create 350 new jobs in addition to the 450 current employees.

“As an international bakery leader and a family business with roots in East Flanders, we are very proud to perpetuate and strengthen our local roots in Belgium,” says Guido Vanherpe, CEO of the company. “In its current form, the site is too small and is not technologically modern enough to remain competitive and continue to develop. If we want to continue to offer quality services in Belgium and neighboring countries, we must equip ourselves with the most innovative technologies. The site, which is now more than 30 years old, is being considerably expanded and completely renovated to become the most modern site in the group, and indeed in all of Europe.”

The site is also committed to the energy transition. By 2026, it is expected to be powered entirely by green electricity.
