Puratos Opens Third Canadian Innovation Centre in Montreal

Puratos has expanded its presence in Canada with the opening of a new Innovation Centre in Montreal, its third facility in the country. The new hub complements existing centres in Mississauga, Ontario, and Chilliwack, British Columbia, and is designed to strengthen support for Quebec’s bakery, patisserie, and chocolate businesses.

The Montreal site provides product development, category management, and product profiling services, helping companies refine recipes, set profitability targets, and identify opportunities for improvement. Two full-time Technical Advisors and three Key Account Managers will manage the centre, offering bilingual service and a strong focus on locally relevant recipe creation.

Exclusive capabilities include enhanced chocolate preparation equipment, such as a refrigerated marble table, a full-size laminator, and dual proofers for simultaneous retarding and proofing. A 140qt Hobart mixer will be added shortly to expand testing and formulation for large batches.

The facility also connects Canadian manufacturers to Puratos’ global consumer research program, Taste Tomorrow, which tracks emerging trends in taste, health, and sustainability across international markets.

Sustainability was a key consideration in the design, with the centre running entirely on clean electricity and using energy-efficient systems to minimise environmental impact and operating costs.

Already in operation, the Montreal Innovation Centre hosted its inaugural event on August 20 with local media, government representatives, and the Puratos team.
