Fortress Technology is set to present a new touchscreen interface for its metal detection systems at interpack 2026, targeting improved food safety and reduced operator error in high-speed production environments.
The interface, which will be demonstrated on the company’s Stealth metal detector, features a redesigned layout with high-contrast visuals, bold icons and a multi-colour warning system. The aim is to ensure operators can quickly access critical control point (CCP) data and respond to alerts in real time, even under high-pressure conditions.
Measuring 18.3 cm by 11.4 cm, the touchscreen is compatible across Fortress Technology’s full range of metal detectors, including gravity, pipeline and conveyor systems. The standardised format allows existing users to upgrade without major modifications, while legacy membrane-style and stainless-steel HMIs will remain available.
According to the company, the interface supports both light and dark display modes to enhance visibility for safety-critical tasks. It enables real-time monitoring of key production metrics, including contaminant detection, conveyor status, reject bin performance, throughput and sensitivity settings, with all data logged for reporting and traceability.
Quality assurance reports can be extracted via USB or integrated digitally through Contact 4.0 reporting tools, supporting audit processes and performance verification. Additional connectivity options, including OPC UA and Ethernet/IP adapters, allow integration with plant monitoring systems, ERP platforms and databases.
When combined with automated testing systems, the solution is designed to help processors meet food safety standards such as HACCP, GFSI and BRCGS, as well as retailer compliance requirements.
