Prosur has introduced a new portfolio of natural ingredient systems aimed at helping manufacturers eliminate synthetic additives and respond to growing clean-label demand.
The company’s Get It Natural Toolbox brings together a suite of multifunctional solutions designed to “protect food with food”, enabling producers to replace artificial preservatives, stabilisers and sweeteners with natural alternatives. The launch comes as both consumer expectations and regulatory frameworks increasingly favour minimally processed formulations.
According to Prosur, global consumer sentiment continues to shift away from ultra-processed foods (UPFs), with nearly half of consumers viewing them as unhealthy and associating them with artificial ingredients. At the same time, a majority actively seek recognisable ingredients and greater transparency when making purchasing decisions.
Regulatory pressure is reinforcing this trend. In the US, the Make America Healthy Again Commission is targeting reductions in synthetic additives and UPFs, while the EU introduced tighter limits on nitrites and nitrates in 2025 across several food categories.
Prosur’s toolbox is positioned as a response to these developments, offering ready-to-use systems validated through industrial trials and commercial applications. Among the key components is a chemical elimination platform designed to replace nitrites, phosphates and sulphites in processed foods while maintaining shelf life, texture and yield.
The portfolio also includes fermentation-based preservation solutions derived from upcycled plant materials. Produced using water-based extraction processes without solvents, these ingredients create conditions that inhibit spoilage organisms such as yeasts and moulds.
In addition, Prosur has developed a natural sweetening system based on Mediterranean carob, providing functional sugars without artificial additives. A related carob-derived fibre ingredient is positioned as a cost-effective alternative to cocoa, offering structural functionality and digestive benefits.
The company said the toolbox supports scalable reformulation across multiple food and beverage categories, including bakery applications, where demand for clean-label preservation and sugar reduction continues to grow.
Prosur executives emphasised that the solutions build on the company’s earlier work in natural preservation, including the removal of nitrites from meat processing. The latest portfolio expands this approach across broader categories, combining plant-based ingredients, fermentation and circular raw material concepts.
The launch reflects a wider industry shift toward natural functionality, as manufacturers look to balance regulatory compliance, consumer expectations and product performance without relying on synthetic additives.
