Brenntag Acquires Kluman and Balter

Global chemical distributor Brenntag AG has announced that the company has signed an agreement to acquire Kluman and Balter Limited (Waltham Abbey, UK) and A1 Cake Mixes Limited (Glasgow, UK).

The two companies are specialized in the distribution of bakery ingredients and the development and distribution of bakery and confectionary mixes. A designated new product development team offers technical product support and provides full product demonstrations, introducing new ideas and helping customers maximize growth potential.
According to the statement, the focus is on higher value products used mainly by artisanal bakers, in-store bakeries and foodservice firms. The business is expected to generate total sales of approximately GBP77.5m in FY2017. No further financial details were disclosed on the transaction.

The acquisition will significantly strengthen our offering to the sector. Danny Kluman, managing director Kluman and Balter, appreciates that the transaction also includes the purchase of A1 Cake Mixes so the company can continue to develop to the sector with the supply of cake mixes.
