ABA Launches Global Supply Chain & Logistics Professionals Group

The American Bakers Association (ABA) has launched a new Global Supply Chain & Logistics Professionals Group, consolidating its former Commodity and Agricultural Policy Professionals Group and Logistics Professionals Group into a single forum spanning the full baking supply chain.

The move aligns with ABA’s strategic plan and reflects growing complexity across sourcing, trade and distribution. The new group brings together stakeholders from commodities, procurement and logistics to address challenges such as agricultural market volatility, global trade dynamics, transportation and regulatory pressures.

According to co-chair Ahmet Hepdogan, Senior Vice President Supply Chain & Procurement at Dawn Food Products, the integration aims to improve coordination from ingredient sourcing through to finished product delivery, strengthening efficiency and resilience across operations.

Co-chair Hakim R. Savoy, Chief Supply Chain Officer at C.H. Guenther, added that combining agricultural and logistics expertise will support more proactive risk management and solution development in an increasingly interconnected supply chain.

The group will prioritise areas including commodity transportation, supply chain alignment, sustainability and technology innovation, while also supporting ABA’s advocacy efforts with policymakers and federal agencies.

ABA’s Vice President of Government Relations, Rasma Zvaners, described the initiative as a strategic step to reinforce supply chain resilience and ensure a unified industry voice on policy and operational challenges.

Open to employees of ABA member companies, the group will convene throughout the year in both virtual and in-person formats to exchange insights and shape industry responses.
