Bimbo Bakeries USA in South Sioux City to Close in October

Officials with Bimbo Bakeries USA have announced the bakery in South Sioux City, Nebraska, USA, will close in October.

The bakery employs 81 people, but the company says it is shifting the work to other bakeries.

“Decisions like this are always difficult. After careful analysis and consideration, we determined it is most efficient to redistribute production to other bakeries in our system to better meet market demand,” said David Tormena, vice president, region operations for Bimbo Bakeries USA, in a news release.

Officials say human resource representatives will meet with the people impacted to discuss severance, other benefits, and resources available to assist associates.

“We truly value and respect our dedicated associates at the South Sioux City Bakery and will assist them throughout the transition,” said Tormena.

Officials say consumers and customers will not be impacted as the change will not affect the availability of products.
