Grupo Bimbo, the largest bakery and snacks producer in the world, plans to build two new factories in separate US states.
The plans were announced by the Georgia and Ohio state governors in a joint statement, with the projects expected to create more than 600 jobs in total.
The company is investing US$200m in the Georgia facility, located in the city of Valdosta, Lowndes County, Governor Brian Kemp said.This will be the second plant run by the company in the city, with the addition of 295 jobs.
In Ohio, Grupo Bimbo is building a plant in the city of Zanesville, Muskingham County.
“The investment being made by Grupo Bimbo in Muskingum County will create 320 new jobs in order to meet the company’s growing consumer demand,” Ohio Governor Mike DeWine said.
The Mexican business recently bought St Pierre Groupe, an UK brioche producer which also supplies the US market.
