LCI, as a subsidiary of Limagrain, manages many plant cultivation program for its wheat and maize. WorldBakers.com talked to Limagrain Céréales Ingrédients and found out everything about this new range.

The approach of the program for wheat and maize enables LCI to manage all of the integrated chains locally: the seeds and grain are produced under contract with Limagrain cooperative farmer members and the grain is processed exclusively in the company’s mills. LCI analyses, tests and reproduces the industrial conditions and constraints that cereals may encounter during the manufacturing process.

Aware of the various specificities of the baking industry and set in the context of an innovative working environment, LCI has revamped its wide range of ingredients for professionals working with bread and other types of dough and launched Bakery by Limagrain Céréales Ingrédients.

Whether the end product is pre-packaged, fresh or frozen, the large Bakery by LCI range is suitable for all bread-making technologies and all shelf lives. The range includes bread and Viennese pastry improvers for different types of bread, pastries, brioches, pizza dough and more, which can be customized to suit each client’s requirements.

LCI has not only invested in creating new cereal varieties but has also developed its technological capabilities and cereal processing tools. They offer a distinctive functional ingredient selection, including for instance a unique range of functional flours developed as a response to various needs within the industry offering everything from functional solutions to cost-reduction solutions, nutritional offerings and texture and taste enhancements.

As the experts explained, their Bakery by Limagrain Céréales Ingrédients range is not only available in the UK; the company provides these ingredients all over the world, although mainly in Europe.

“Since the beginning of LCI our different products are present in the UK on four different markets (snack, bakery, Culinary, Breakfast cereals…). For the past two years, LCI also has a commercial office here, which allows us to be more present in this market,” the specialists from LCI said.

The main point of Bakey by LCI range is to provide a wide range of ingredients from the flour to the improver and functional ingredients.

LCI has expertise on the pre-packed bread, especially on the softness and Viennese / puffed pastries, and it provides solutions to answer to consumer trends such as clean label, nutrition (high protein, high fibers…) and gluten free.

  • Functionality. LCI selects corn and wheat varieties to meet the industrial requirements of its partners: wheat for bakery and maize for extrusion and cornflakes production.
  • Sustainable development of local agriculture: “The organization sector, our cultural practices between places of culture and our production facilities, our best management for energy and waste meet today’s needs without compromising the future,” Pauline Arramy, marketing executive, told us on behalf of LCI.
  • Nutrition: LCI select corn and wheat varieties for their nutritional aspect in the aim to enhance the nutritional profile of industrial products such as bread, biscuits or snack and culinary food.
