Danisco launched the vitamin K2 brand, ActivK MK-7, after highlighting the nutrient’s link with bone and cardiovascular health .
ActivK will be suitable for use within a range of dairy, beverages, fats and oils, bakery, cereals and bars, and dietary supplement products.
“For Danisco, the launch of its new brand opens up the market beyond the borders of food and beverages, as ActivK is also commercialised for the worldwide dietary supplement industry, which is today an established and dynamic market in the vitamin K2 field,” said Peter Wisler, global business development director, Danisco Health & Nutrition.
The food ingredient will be showcased in the form of a bar, which also contains vitamin D, at upcoming tradeshows.
A recent study conducted at the University Medical Center Utrecht in the Netherlands highlighted that vitamin K can lower people’s risk of developing diabetes.
