Europain will be held at the Paris Porte de Versailles venue in France for the first time in January 2020, where it will host two contests: the ‘Coupe du Monde de la Boulangerie’ and ‘Coupe Europe de la Pâtisserie’, which will both bring together the best representatives in their trades from Europe and around the world.
Coupe Europe de la Pâtisserie
For the Coupe Europe de la Pâtisserie, the organizers anticipate several highlights. After Geneva and Turin, the traveling event continues its journey for a stopover in Paris. For the first time since its creation, this competition will take place in the heart of the capital.
Eight teams selected from all over Europe will compete against each other on January 12 and 13, 2020, vying for a spot in the world grand finale that will be held on January 24 and 25, 2021, as part of the Sirha Lyon trade fair. This European round is one of the most challenging in the selection process and has revealed new nations on the pastry scene. It is also an event that is continually renewing itself, the hosts explain. In this respect, the rules and regulations of the contest are being updated and the new points and aspects will be presented later this year in September.
Coupe du Monde de la Boulangerie
Created in 1992 by Christian Vabret (MoF), the Coupe du Monde de la Boulangerie is also an incubator for international trends, a laboratory of talents and a source of inspiration and creativity, according to Europain. From January 11 to 14, 2020, 12 teams composed of three members, among the best in the world in their trade, will compete in four tests:
- Baguette and breads of the world
- Sweet viennoiseries
- Artistic creation
- Gourmet baking (test performed in common by the three members of the team).
The 12 participating teams are the winners of the regional preselection rounds that were held in the five major zones of the world: Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia, and America. South Korea was the winner of the previous edition of the Coupe du Monde de la Boulangerie 2016.
Europain is more than ever intent on highlighting the artisans in the sector.
