Pizza and baking specialist Dr. Oetker Professional has joined the Soil Association’s Food for Life Supplier Scheme to help caterers include tasty and sustainable meals in their menus.
Chicago Town Balanced Choice Pizza, Raw Dough Pizza Base and Wellcare mixes have all been recognized as meeting the Food for Life Served Here standards. Caterers can now use these products to help them achieve a Food for Life Served Here award.
Commenting on the award, Emma Haworth, senior brand manager, Dr. Oetker Professional (UK) Ltd said: “We pride ourselves on working closely with caterers to develop products to help them deliver enjoyable and nutritional meals. We’re excited to be able to extend this partnership even further and back caterers in their bid for a “Food for Life Served Here” award.
“Over 1.7 million Food for Life Served Here meals are cooked up every weekday around the UK. To be recognized by the Soil Association and become an official supplier of this hugely important scheme means a great deal to the team.”
To achieve the Food for Life Served Here award, the Balanced Choice Pizza, Raw Dough Pizza Base and Wellcare mixes all meet the independent schemes standards by ensuring they do not contain any undesirable food additives, hydrogenated fats or GM ingredients.
Food for Life Served Here is a widely respected scheme, recognized by the Department of Health, Department for Education, and the UK Government’s Plan for Public Procurement, that is raising the standards of food quality, provenance, and environmental sustainability in public and private sector catering.
