Sandwich Supplier Bream Foods Fined Over Mice Infestation

UK based sandwich maker, Bream Foods, has been fined £20,000 for a string of offences including failure to tackle a mice infestation.

The Southall firm pleaded guilty at Ealing Magistrates Court, West London, following a council inspection last year.

Numerous complaints regarding excessive rubbish and vermin were made to the council.

An inspection by officials found Bream Foods failed seven food hygiene requirements including having dirty floors, washing salads in grease-lined sinks, dumping surplus products and failing to train staff to adequate standards.

Councillor Ranjit Dheer said: “It’s shocking that this company was preparing food in such unhygienic conditions.

“I’m pleased the court has recognised the seriousness of the situation and it is clearly reflected in the hefty fine they have meted out.

“This case should serve as a reminder that we will prosecute individuals and businesses which flout regulations and put people’s health at serious risk.”
