From selling its products online through Amazon and aiming for more supermarket penetration, Belgian pastry company Pidy is aiming to make 2013 a bumper year – starting with a bigger slice of the UK market.
A Press fact-finding trip to the French and Belgian production facilities for Pidy saw the media discover the second strand of the company’s groundbreaking new canapé concept – Fruity Cups.
Called the ‘Fabulous Fruity Cup’, the new product is one of three interlinked ranges by Pidy which have been developed for health-conscious customers with a taste for the gourmet things of life.
Fashioned in the shape of a fine pastry fruit basket, this natural successor to Veggie Cups is a blend of low-fat dough and real fruit juices which are suitable as a one-bite dessert for stand up buffets, three on a plate with cream for a sit down pud or simply as a sweetmeat on a saucer to accompany a cup of coffee.
“Fruity Cups are the second part of a three part launch which Pidy has planned for introduction over a one year period,” said Robert Whittle, General Manager of Pidy’s UK operation.
“Part one was the the unveiling of the Veggie Cups at the Birmingham Food & Drink Expo in March this year. Fruity Cups will have their first official airing at the lunch! show in London in September and it’s a case of ‘watch this space’ for project number three.”
There are four varieties in the Fruit Cup range – Strawberry, Banana, Fruits of the Forest (mix of blueberry, raspberry and blackberry) and Orange. Each brings 100 per cent natural fruit taste and colour to the table – all are made using 30 per cent fruit juice extract and contain no artificial colours or E numbers.
