Bakers Circle Opens a Manufacturing Plant in Dubai

Bakers Circle (India) Pvt. Ltd plans to open a manufacturing plant in Dubai and will be investing approximately USD6 million in this regard.

Working capital requirements and funds for the initiative will be raised through debt, equity and internal accruals. The company makes frozen semi-finished bakery and confectionery geared towards the B2B market. It also covers bread and dessert options.

Dev Lall, CEO and MD, Bakers Circle (India) Pvt. Ltd, said for fnbnews.com:  “We are targeting to open the plant in April 2015. It is about 12,000 sq ft (over 1,100 square meters) with a single automated line and ability to produce frozen dough at the rate enough for 1,9000 sandwiches per hour. In addition to this, it has warehousing space and we will be manufacturing desserts in India and trading them out of this location to existing and new clients.”

Frozen dough would be manufactured at the facility and countries and regions like north Africa, east and south Africa, GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) and Arab states plus Pakistan and Turkey would be serviced from this plant.
“We plough back a substantial part of our earnings every year into capital expansion and enhancement in India. Our next big expansion will be the automation of our cake line early next year and launch of premium products for hotel and mid to upscale food service sector,” explained Lall.
Speaking about growth of Indian bakery industry, he stated that in relation to the sector, customer growth was around 12 to 15%. “Our overall company growth however is closer to 30% due to addition of new clients and new products,” he concluded.
