PepsiCo opens a new Quaker Oats plant in China

PepsiCo Inc has announced the opening of their first Quaker Oats manufacturing facility in China, in the Daxing district of Beijing.

The new facility includes 30,000 square meters of production space and is equipped with production lines that have the capacity to produce 50,000 tons of Quaker oats annually.

The plant will create about 150 direct jobs and thousands of indirect jobs surrounding the community. It will produce a variety of Quaker products, including Instant Oats, Quick Cooked Oats and Quaker’s Cereal Powder Drink (CPD).

With leading cereal brand in China, the opening of Quaker’s new plant comes less than two months after the launch of Quaker High Fiber Oats Dairy Drink in China, the company’s first foray into the segment.

The new product was developed at PepsiCo’s R&D center in Shanghai, which opened in 2012 and became the company’s largest innovation hub outside the United States.

To meet Chinese consumers’ demands for a more balanced diet, PepsiCo said the new Beijing Quaker plant will produce high quality, tasty, and healthy oats.
